Dell Technologies has reaffirmed its pledge to transform the future of business in Africa as it serves its customers in West, East, and Central Africa with the best in technological advancements. This is part of its plans to facilitate the growth and sustainability of businesses in the three African sub-regions.
This was the high point at the company’s unveiling of its innovative products which will leverage the latest in IT services to facilitate the digitisation of products, services, and administrative operations for both corporate businesses and individuals.
Mr. Habib Mahakian, Vice President, Emerging Africa at Dell Technologies had this to say: “In the last six months, one thing is clear – the pandemic did impact and disrupt the ICT industry globally and across Emerging Africa, where we’re seeing a lot of changes in the market in terms of the need to increase investments in digital technologies. In this time of intense change, we see technology as a key path to economic recovery and companies need to build and strengthen the foundations for their digital future. At Dell Technologies, we aim to simplify this journey for our customers and partners, with solutions that enable business leaders to use advanced technologies to drive growth and improve competitiveness.”
Among the solutions will be new technologies and products covering the whole spectrum of commercial PCs, cloud, and storage systems. They include:
• PowerScale a creative solution that offers companies the option of managing data without managing storage.
• PowerStore, an innovative solution for the storage of data to meet today’s needs. It was built from scratch by DELL with high-level technology and proficiency to meet the demands of the data era.
• New Dell EMC VxRail systems and software which offers cloud capacities and an Information Technology framework to demanding edge environments with spatial limitations.
• Dell Technologies premium XPS consumer products which are created with exclusive tools and contemporary technology to offer top quality, powerful, and dynamic features.
• Dell Technologies Cloud OneFS for Google Cloud, a business solution to help with the migration of file-based enterprise business-critical workloads onto Google Cloud.
• The most secure and smartest business PCs suited to safety and improved efficiency in remote work conditions, covering a select range of Dell Technologiesaward-winning Precision, OptiPlex, and Latitude portfolios.
General Manager for Central and West Africa at Dell Technologies, Mr. Travers Nicholas had a few things to say about the sub-region: “In West Africa, digitization is transforming industries and has the ability to contribute to national GDP in multiple ways while also promoting growth of allied industries such as logistics, infrastructure, and payments. As an example, the banking and finance sector, continues to evolve and transform with several digital banking initiatives being introduced that is increasing financial inclusion. This in turn leads to an increase in a country’s productivity and competitiveness – lowering unemployment rates, increasing access to technology enabled services for citizens and creating higher-wage and higher-impact jobs. At Dell Technologies, we are committed to helping organizations accelerate their digital transformation journey and building an eco-system of innovation.”
Along with these developments, the changes in the world of work have placed a huge responsibility on businesses to create a more adaptive work culture for employees, one that would encourage collaboration and evolve new solutions, as best as possible, irrespective of where they are working from. Dell Technologies hopes to, in partnering with clients from the private and public sector, bring the best in technological advancement to equip organisations and their employees with all the tools to stand out from the competition as businesses prepare to step out of the doldrums of the pandemic. Dell will be working closely with the financial, oil and gas, government, education, and health sectors.

Dell technologies will also be engaging in some social impact programmes across Emerging Africa tagged ‘Progress Made Real Vision 2030.’ This will allow the company to make use of technology to foster change across four key lines to promote inclusion, enhance sustainability, transform lives, and maintain ethics and data privacy. Programmes such as Solar Learning Labs and others geared towards education and youth skills training will be made available to equip the African youth with skills to compete with their counterparts around the world. Dell Technologies hopes to, with these, bridge the gap and stimulate economic prosperity in the digital space.
